How to Make Your Own All Natural DIY Deodorant

Aunt Fannie News & Media Coverage

Are you part of the 95% of Americans who wear deodorant? If so, thank you! How considerate. But while we all want to smell fresh as a daisy, it can come at a cost to your health if you use a conventional deodorant.

What’s wrong with store bought deodorants? Typical conventional deodorants and antiperspirants contain a list of chemical-laden ingredients such as aluminum, parabens, triclosan, TEA & DEA, talc, propylene glycol, phthalates, and synthetic fragrances to top it all off. All of these are chemicals that have either been shown to disrupt hormones, aid in developing bacterial resistance, and many sadly are tested on animals.

Equally as important, your armpits play an essential role in regulating your body’s temperature by producing sweat. Most brands use aluminum-based antiperspirants that work by blocking the sweat ducts. When we introduce an antiperspirant into the mix, we’re compromising the body’s ability to do it’s job.

So, in the name of health, the Aunt Fannie’s crew decided it was time to ditch the off-the-shelf D.O. and whip up an all natural batch of our own.

There are plenty of concoctions out there on the interwebs, but this one is our favorite. It contains 4 simple ingredients and is packed with natural odor killing properties (baking soda), antimicrobial properties (coconut oil), as well as a lovely scent (your fave essential oil) and leaves your underarms feeling moisturized. Plus, it’s affordable, lasts a really long time, and is so simple to switch up in terms of the scent.
